On independence and small gestures of freedom

​This performance starts with analyzing the independence and liberty concepts throughout Brazilian historiography. Souto intends to make a "poetical liberation" from the political context of Brazil during the World Cup preparations. He emphasizes the social discontent caused by this event and the excessive tax and price increase of public transportation.

It took place at the Quinta de Boa Vista, the former imperial palace of the Brazilian emperors. This space was selected to make a critical exercise of its historical, architectural, and landscape relevance; here is where the Brazilian Proclamation of Independence was signed.
